Stencil Hardener Treatment

Completely exposed water resistant stencils for discharge textile, and ceramic inks should not need an extra hardener if they are completely exposed. Complete exposure means all the stensitizer has been crosslinked with the emulsion achieving all the water resistance it was designed to have.

Ulano stencil hardeners penetrate the stencil and form an additional chemical bond with the mesh that stencil removers cannot break. This means you should not expect to reclaim your mesh after applying a hardener. Under exposed stencils are effected even more than properly exposed stencils.

Hardener D

Product Fact Sheet Tech Data Sheet

Hardener D is a liquid stencil hardener formulated for use with QT-DISCHARGE direct emulsion to improve its durability and water resistance. Hardener D can be used with other textile emulsions but will make stencil removal more difficult and may embrittle the stencil.

Hardener D is available in quart (946 cc.), U.S. gallon (3.78 lt.), 5 U.S. gallon (18.9 lt.), and 50 U.S. gallon (189.2 lt.) units. Quart units are packaged 12 per carton; U.S. gallon units are packaged 4 per carton; 5 and 50 U.S. gallon units are packaged individually.

Hardener WR

Tech Data Sheet

As a companion product to QLT(when it is used with added diazo to provide water
resistance), we’ve introduced Hardener WR to improve QLT’s durability and water
resistance.  It can also be used with most diazo sensitized, diazo-dual cure (water
resistant) emulsions, and SBQ textile emulsions to which diazo has been added.
Whereas virtually all hardener treatments make stencils permanent, stencils treated
with Hardener WR can be removed easily!

Hardener X

Product Fact Sheet Tech Data SheetbuttonTech Data Sheet (Spanish)

Hardener X is a post-exposure and processing, liquid screen stencil hardener which improves the stencil durability of textile direct emulsions, including 925WR, TZ, LX-630, LX-660 AND QTX®. For industrial use only.

You should not expect to reclaim your mesh after applying a hardener. Hardeners penetrate the stencil and form an additional chemical bond with the mesh that stencil removers cannot break. Ulano hardeners can be used with other textile emulsions, but will make stencil removal more difficult and may embrittle the stencil.

INSTRUCTIONS

Hardener X is applied to both sides of the screen with a soft bristled brush or sponge after the stencil has been properly exposed, washed out and thoroughly dried. Blot excess solution from the image area.

Allow the screen to cure for 24 hours at room temperature. To accelerate the curing process, the screen can be exposed to heat, not exceeding 140 degrees Fahrenheit (60 degrees centigrade), for one hour.

HEALTH AND SAFETY INFORMATION

Hardener X is for industrial use only and should be used only in well ventilated areas. Avoid contact with the skin, eyes, mucous membranes, and clothing. Hardener X may be harmful if swallowed. Wear rubber gloves and eye goggles. Avoid contact with the skin. Wash hands promptly after use.
